Cherry-Coconut Bars

Ingredients

Flour 1 Cup
Butter or Margarine 1/2 Cup
Confectioners' Sugar 3 Tbsp.
Eggs, slightly beaten 2
Granulated Sugar 1 Cup
Flour 1/4 Cup
Baking Powder 1/2 Tsp.
Salt 1/4 Tsp.
Vanilla 1 Tsp.
Chopped Nuts 3/4 Cup
Coconut 1/2 Cup
Quartered Maraschino Cherries 1/2 Cup
  1. Heat oven to 350°.
  2. Measure flour by dipping method or by sifting. With hands, mix 1 cup of flour, butter and confectioners’ sugar until smooth.
  3. Spread thin with fingers in ungreased square pan, 9″.
  4. Bake about 25 minutes.
  5. Stir rest of ingredients into eggs. Spread over top of baked pastry (no need to cool). Bake about 25 minutes.
  6. Cool. Cut into bars.
